Academic English explained
Welcome to Akathimaikos. ​We are pleased to offer a one week intensive course in English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills for academics who teach in institutions that deliver higher education in English. The aim of the course is to enable academics to pass on the skills to their students further guaranteeing student success in an English speaking environment.
The course could include 2 daily sessions of one and a half hours each, although this is negotiable depending on requirements. All materials will be provided for participants to copy and use for their own purposes.

The course can be delivered in one of three modes.
​
1. Online to one person who can then train other members of staff, or
establish a course for students within their institution.
​
2. Online to a small group of no more than four people who can then train other members of staff, or establish a course for students within their institution.
​
3. Onsite to a group of no more than 10 academics who can then use the skills in their teaching or wish to establish a specific course for students.
​
The cost will be discussed with each expression of interest.
NB I will deliver the course free of charge for charities providing educational support to anyone.

My name is Jill Cook (BA (Hons), RSA Dip TEFLA, MA Applied Linguistics), and I have been teaching English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills in the UK, the Middle East and Gulf countries for over 20 years. I have a wealth of experience in all areas of course delivery including teaching, instructional design and assessment.

I am based in Wales in the UK, but I will be travelling to countries to visit institutions that may benefit from my input.
